There are 50 million people being trafficked across the globe right now. If any of them leave, there is a 45% chance that they will be re-trafficked. The same goes for domestic violence, if someone does not get back into housing, jobs, and therapy, then they are likely to end up in an abusive situation again.

Survivors of trafficking are very vulnerable to re-trafficking throughout the recovery process. Engagement with social services programs and building a support network are critical to avoid re-trafficking; however, many victims’ situations make it difficult to do so, leading to runaways and incomplete cases. Social services are not designed to be search-and-rescue operations; therefore, it’s essential that even when situational factors such as unreliable access to technology make traditional communication unviable, survivors can still keep their support network within reach.
